From our balcony.

This is my housemate Prang's experience design master thesis, "The Real Transparent Cuisine". She worked with a local farmer/chef and they developed recipes which use simple local, often overlooked ingredients. The starter as well as the main course use Guirsch, a weed that grows wild and in a lot of gardens, also ours, in abundance. The taste reminds me of Rucola and is amazing, fried crispy in butter or used as a salad base.

A lot of mornings, this is what one can see from my window, the kitchen or livingroom window or also from under the shower (oh dear, morning routine entertainment). Minus leafs 5 1/2 months of the year.

In spring all I ever want to do is be outside, enjoy the absence of snow and smell flowers... a thing shared with most other people in Sweden. This walk ended up on the Aspudden basketball court. Several did, since Evah and I found out the basket to the right can be used as an oracle and has magic question answering skills (it mostly says no, but still it's fun).

My favourite park in Stockholm is Skinnarviksparken, somewhat hidden and strangely google maps doesn't show it as a park area.

Anyways, this place is the bee's knees, it has everything: a wonderful view, you can choose between sitting on stone or gras, coffee and great kanelbullar are not far, they actually live in a little kiosk at the park entrance. There's lots of barbecue in the evenings and you can see the sunset as well as the sunrise! Never at the same time though, unfortunately Stockholm is not quite that high up north.

This spring, I acquired a little compact camera, a used Olympus XA from the 70s. Owning a rather extensive collection of cameras, I had always felt like something was missing. A good camera for tagging along, small, film, uncomplicated but not without possibilities for manual adjustments. As someone shooting a lot of large format, for your free time you really every so often just want something small.

One day my classmate Dan came into school with this tiny black aperture priority, manual focus 35mm his Dad had passed on to him, and I knew I was home! Or something like that. A little Swedish Ebay later, an Olympus XA was mine.

It´s ideal, really fun to bring and use. I photojournaled the whole summer, and thought it would be nice to continue doing so on a blog. Since I have lots of summer pictures and notes to share, I will backdate those posts, and continue until we arrive in the present and the future.

The pictures are from the first roll of film, a visit to Germany over Easter & the street I grew up in.
